About Edna Garrett
Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, I moved to Atlanta in 1970 to work for Delta Air Lines. That’s where I met my husband, Larry. We lived in Milledgeville for a few years, and later moved to Marshallville, which was our home for over thirty years. We now live in Perry, Georgia.
My artistic journey began in the 1980’s when I began taking lessons from various local artists. My interest grew and I entered Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, where in 2001, I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in drawing and painting. I sampled many other mediums there, but I currently work primarily in oil, pastel, mixed-media and collage. While at GSW, I won several scholarship competitions, and won second place in the first annual sculpture competition sponsored by Macon Iron Company.
I have won awards in art shows sponsored by The Middle Georgia Art Association, The Fine Art Society of Middle Georgia, and The Perry Art League.
I have served as Fine Art Superintendent for the Georgia National Fair in Perry since 2009. I have judged art shows for the Middle Georgia Art Association, Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, and shows in Reynolds, Perry and Montezuma.
I am past president of Houston Arts Alliance and the Fine Art Society of Middle Georgia.
